Burning Calories vs Burning Fat
In order to lose weight and get your body beach ready you need a good diet, a teatox and a consistent exercise regime to burn fat. What most people don’t know is that just because you are burning calories, doesn’t actually mean you are burning fat.
If you want a nice lean body, your main objective when you exercise should be to lose body fat, and you can’t lose body fat from just burning calories. What??
When you exercise, you will start to burn calories, however, the first calories that are burned off are calories from carbohydrates. In order to burn calories from stored fat on your butt or thigh, your body needs the presence of oxygen.
There is a specific amount of oxygen that your body requires to start burning fat and the only way for you to know the amount that you need for your body is to stay within your target heart rate during exercise. If you only burn calories from carbohydrates, your loss will be mostly “water weight”. Think of the burned off carb calories, as your energy providing calories.
If too much energy calories are lost then your muscles will not have enough energy to raise your metabolism which burns fat. So, it is important that you increase calorie intake when exercising to replenish your burned energy calories.
Burning Fat Calories Through Exercise
During aerobic exercise, your body goes through several stages before it starts to burn stored body fat. Some people say that you are only burning glucose (carbohydrates) during the first 10 minutes of exercise, not fat.
This is sort of true. You will continue to burn glucose past the 10 minute point only if you are not working out hard enough to make your body want more oxygen; or you are working out at a too high intensity and you can’t deliver your body with enough oxygen for fat burning. When you work out you should move at an even pace (not too slow, not too fast). so your body will begin to tap into your stored fat (not carbs or glucose) as its energy supply. Remember also that just because you have reached the fat burning phase, it doesn’t mean that you will stay there. Staying at that fat burning phase, again, depends on if you are working out at the pace that is right for your body. It’s very important to stay within your target heart rate range.
Burning Fat Calories While You Rest
The only way for you to continue to tap into your fat calories even after you have finished working out is through weight training. Weight training is the magic key to burning fat while your at rest. Weight training, which is an anaerobic activity, will help you to burn more calories than an aerobic exercise. The calories that you are burning during weight training exercises are mostly calories from carbohydrates (meaning you should consume even more calories per day for energy); but the calories you burn while at rest will be mostly calories from fat. The reason you are tapping into your fat stores at rest is because weight training caused you to increase your metabolism which uses your stored fat as energy.
To turn your body into a fat burning machine you should workout both aerobically (cardio) and anaerobically (weight training) on a consistent basis. Also, don’t forget to drink a cup of Skinny Time Tea after you work out, which may raise your metabolism even more!
